MONTPELLIER
Montpellier is a French commune, prefecture of the department of Herault. Historical, economic and cultural capital of Languedoc-Roussillon, it is the center of a metropolis and a balancing pole of the Occitan region.
Montpellier is located in the south of France, on a major axis of communication joining Spain to the west, Italy to the east. Close to the Mediterranean Sea, this city has as neighbors Beziers to the southwest and Nimes to the northeast.
The imposing Gothic Saint-Pierre cathedral in Montpellier, which stands out with its conical towers, dates back to 1364. Antigone is a chic, modern neoclassical-style district. And the Fabre museum houses paintings by great French and European masters.
