Antwerp is a Belgian port city on the Scheldt, whose history dates back to the Middle Ages. In the city center, the centuries-old diamond district is home to thousands of merchants, tailors and diamond polishers. The Renaissance architecture of Antwerp is reflected in the Grand Place, located in the heart of the old town. In the 17th-century House of Rubens, period pieces contain the works of Flemish Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens.
